Stock Auction to Support St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital
Stock Auction Company, St. Edward, NE, will again generate
funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during the 31st
Husker Harvest Days, September 9 to 11, 2008, at Grand Island,
Nebraska.
The company will hold three live auctions—one each day at 1
p.m.—in the Stock Auction Company tent (lot 133). Approximately
50 items will be on the block daily, and successful bids this
year are expected to range from $20 to $100,000. "We’ve got some
big items to auction this fall, including a Pivot Track Closer,"
said Mark Stock, company president. Stock Auction Company raised
approximately $70,000 at auctions held during Husker Harvest
Days in the two previous years.
"Generous vendors at the show and other businesses donate
everything from toy tractors to seed corn, ATVs and gift
certificates for farm equipment parts," says Stock, whose
24-year-old company works primarily in the Midwest, but has
buyers worldwide. Stock Auction Company conducts more than 60
auctions in the farm equipment, construction equipment and real
estate industries each year.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a world leader in
the fight against childhood cancer and other catastrophic
diseases. Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, the
Memphis, Tennessee-based hospital is the nation’s second largest
health care charity and unique in that research and patient care
are under one roof. All patients accepted for treatment are
treated regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
More than 100,000 people from more than 20 states are
expected to attend Husker Harvest Days, a working farm show that
attracts 500 exhibitors. Attendees can view items to be
auctioned each day in the Stock Auction tent.
